Dr Paul Alsop

Since coming to New Zealand in 2010, Paul has lived and worked in both the Coromandel and the Bay of Plenty.Graduating from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne in 2008 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS), he spent his hospital career working in Cumbria and also Northumberland in the UK.

Paul holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Biomedical Science, with a specialist interest in Histology (microscopic study of human tissue), he also spent 3 years working at University Hospital North Durham as a Histology technician.As a General Practitioner Paul works as a Fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of GPs and as a Primary Care Skin Cancer doctor at Skinspots.

Paul is considered to be a ‘GP with a Specialist Interest’ (GPSI) in skin cancer medicine and surgery, holding an Advanced Certificate (with distinction) in Dermoscopy (a specialist study of the skin) and Advanced Certificate in Skin Cancer Medicine and Surgery. Paul is an Accredited Skin Cancer Doctor with th Skin Cancer College of Australasia.Paul performs skin checks and surgery for private patients and surgery for patients who secure public funding by the Western Bay of Plenty PHO, to an Advanced level.

Away from medicine, he enjoys spending time with his young family as well as semi-professional photography.
